Overview
The NBCE shares information with the chiropractic profession through a variety of publications as well as a monthly report and news releases.
Publications
Approximately every five years, the NBCE conducts a practice analysis of the chiropractic profession, the results of which are compiled in a job analysis. The most current publication based on this survey data is the Job Analysis of Chiropractic 2005. In producing the job analysis, the NBCE seeks to provide the chiropractic profession with a credible, relevant and accurate representation of chiropractic as it is practiced today as a full-time profession. The NBCE has also created a brochure called Studies on Chiropractic 2005 that cites published studies and official inquiries regarding the efficacy, appropriateness and cost effectiveness of chiropractic health care.
Interested parties may purchase either publication from this Web site. In addition, both publications are available for download as PDF files.
Brochures
The NBCE also produces informational brochures about its examinations. These brochures are available free of charge. To download a brochure, select the appropriate examination under the EXAMINEES section of the Web site.
The brochure NBCE Examination Information includes descriptions and relevant dates for the NBCE written examinations -- Part I, Part II, Part III, Acupuncture and Physiotherapy. The examination application is also available online. This brochure is updated prior to each examination administration.
The brochure NBCE Examinee Information for the Part IV National Practical Examination includes dates and locations, descriptions and test plans for the NBCE Part IV examination. The Part IV examination application is also available online. This brochure is updated prior to each examination administration.
The brochure NBCE Post-Licensure Examinations includes information about the examinations designed for licensed doctors of chiropractic: the Special Purposes Examination for Chiropractic (SPEC) and the Ethics and Boundaries Exam (E&B).
SPEC is used by licensed (or previously licensed) chiropractors in special cases such as reciprocity/endorsement or reinstatement following licensure lapse. The E&B Exam assesses a candidate’s knowledge of ethics and boundaries issues, including ethical misconduct, sexual misconduct and sexual harassment encountered in chiropractic practice. This brochure is updated annually.
