The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) announced today that it intends to fill a board vacancy by March 1, 2015. This vacancy was created by the passing of Dr. Gary Pennebaker. The new at-large board member will complete Dr. Pennebaker’s term, which ends in May 2016, after which he or she will be eligible for re-election.
An At-Large Director is a voting member of the board with full authority and responsibility to uphold the NBCE’s mission: Ensuring professional competency through excellence in testing. He or she may serve on committees or as an officer of the Executive Committee.
Qualifications for At-Large Directors include a Bachelors, Masters and/or a Doctorate Degree (preferred). Board members collectively set policies and goals of the non-profit NBCE, monitor the development and administration of high quality, legally defensible examinations for the chiropractic community, authorize the Executive Vice President to carry out day-to-day management of the NBCE, and oversee the performance of the Executive Vice President. Specifically, the Board approves the annual budget; monitors the overall financial health of the NBCE, and affirms that the fiduciary and organizational responsibilities of the board have been fulfilled.
