About NBCE
The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) is the international testing agency for the chiropractic profession. Since our incorporation in 1963, we have grown and developed standardized exams that all 50 states and the District of Columbia accept or require for licensure. The NBCE’s mission is to ensure professional competency through excellence in testing.
About the Part IV Exam
The NBCE tests consist of four parts and these positions are directly to support the administration of the Part IV Exam, a practical, clinical assessment to test hands-on skills. The Part IV Exam tests examinees in the areas of Patient Evaluations, Patient Examination, Clinical Decision Making & Case Management, Interpersonal & Communication Skills, and Documentation.
Administering this exam involves using Standardized Patients who learn and act out case scenarios and Technique Patients who follow instructions to demonstrate multiple chiropractic technique adjustment set-ups (the intent is to pose the patient, not to adjust). While examinees are being tested, exam rooms are video and audio recorded, and trained Chiropractic Examiners view the videos and grade the examinees.
Our first assessment is planned for April 10, 2026 and training (depending on the position) will begin as early as February. Our testing schedule will ramp up throughout 2026 as we transition into testing out of the new Assessment Center. Ultimately, we plan to administer tests Friday through Sunday for 48 weeks each year. Standardized Patients will work when the case(s) they have been trained on are needed.
We value our staff members!
At NBCE, we highly value each staff member’s contributions in accomplishing our mission to ensure professional competency through excellence in testing. We are dedicated to providing a quality work environment that is team-oriented, challenging, rewarding, and enjoyable!
